My father was diagnosed with squamous NSCLC with mets to bones and kidney in Dec,2009 .
He had 10 radiation treatments,4 infusions of Carbo + gemzar, could not have any more because of the low blood count.
He took Tarceva for 6 weeks but stopped recently because of the severe side effects and disease progression .
He felt not so bad till recently when he had a rapid decline ( not sure if it corresponds to the mild disease progression on CT – the lung tumour has slightly increased and he also has a few new bone mets – could the deterioration be caused by something else rather than disease progrression? First we thought it could be from Tarceva but he stopped taking it 2 weeka ago – he still has Tarceva itch though)
and now sleeps most of the time ,lost a lot of weight and has severe bone pain .
Is there anything he can take apart from Tarceva - not sure if chemo will be advisable when he’s so weak .
Could he radiate the new lessions or it will not be advisable in his state?
